2018 has been an important year for French-Japanese relationships. This year marks an important 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations and a more open dialogue between the two nations. Franz Marc / August Macke. The adventure of the Blue Rider

Franz Marc and August Macke are two of the most interesting figures in German art of the early 20th century. The pair worked together for a long time, sharing a love of the same European masters, painting together and learning side by side. They shared an interesting path of discovery across their short lives, before perishing in the great war at just 36 and 27 respectively. An encounter with Kandinsky just before the war led to the formation of The Blue Rider Almanac. Marc became famous for his blue horses and abstract approach while Macke focused on human relationships with nature.
